
Mrs Olufunmilayo Agbato
Lady Olufunmilayo A. Agbato, born at Imesi-Ile in Osun State, had her primary education at both Ilesha and Imesi-Ile, and thereafter attended Methodist Girls’ High School, Ifaki-Ekiti for her secondary education. Olufunmilayo went to study Animal Health and Husbandry at the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, Moore Plantation, Ibadan where she obtained a National Diploma.
After a brief period in the then Western Nigeria and later Oyo State Civil Service as a veterinary assistant, she proceeded to Newport, England in 1977 on a Federal Government scholarship to study Poultry and Management Husbandry at the famous Harper Adams Agricultural College (now Harper Adams Agricultural University), and graduated in 1979 as the best student in her class, winning many prizes and medals.
She returned to Nigeria in 1979 and got married to Dr. Olatunde A. Agbato, and both of them immediately went into business, setting up O. A. & O. A. Associates (representing their initials), a livestock consultancy outfit. This later metamorphosed into ANIMAL CARE SERVICES KONSULT (NIGERIA) LIMITED.
As a poultry farmer and livestock consultant, Mrs. Agbato served for several years as a member of the executive of the Poultry Association of Nigeria in Lagos; and won several medals and merit awards within the industry, including that of a honorary Guest Lecturer at the Department of Animal Science University of Ibadan. She is a Patroness to several students’ associations in the Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in many institutions of higher learning in Nigeria.
A devout Christian, Lady Olufunmilayo Agbato is involved in various evangelistic activities of her church, with special interest in marriage counseling and reconciliation. She was senior church steward for several years at Methodist Church Nigeria, Agege, Lagos, and she is currently the Lady President** of the Agege Diocese of Methodist Church Nigeria.
